Stuck a 52v 20ah 40a battery on this kit, does about 36mph. Kit is durable I crashed doing a wheelie and kit still works good as new. I’d recommend a controller upgrade for total power out of the motor

Unit is good easy to in the problem I have is the wire has no room to go between the motor and frame I got it to fit and the disk brake to not hit it. Will update after the battery is here and I ride it
I have been riding my dyi ebike a week now at first it was good just the wire placement. Now I try going down hill the motor feels likes dragging if you lift up the back tire and spin it. It stops quickly its like the bearings or no good or brake are on I removed the brake pad to see if it was that but no charge
A month in the drag is getting worse I can’t ride it and just pedal it’s to much drag not sure how to get ahold of repair or replacement.

sorry for the late review i am not one to make them for the most part .
i am old and a little slow at times so i had questions at times putting the thing together . the store was really helpful i think they went out of there way to help me get the thing running to my liking . if i could i would give the store 100 gold stars . now for the kit itself . the sensor for the peddle assist , the crank can go on ether side , although it should be under the sprockets if you have the room . but it does work on the other side ,just look at the disk rotation . it fore sure has more power than i thought it wood . i have a 26 in. recumbent . the first run with the kit did 31 mph past the cities stand alone radar . thats a scooter . so back to the kit . you can not get into all the programs listed in the book to play but you can make the changes most needed . like kmph to mph ect… wheel size on this one goes to a tenth of an inch . but to calibrate youre speed you need the change the number of magnets it counts . also i lowered the current limit so it now only does 27/28 mph , the wisconson law for plating . there was lots of room the other way so i think if you pushed it , it would go like hell, faster than even you want . on that thought you might want to change the wheel size also if youre looking for the speed . i went the other way cause i want it to last . i saw a 250 watt motor drawing 2000 watts , it went like hell , but it did not run more than a month . also the battery you get has a max output . i went with the torque arms as recommended but nothing has moved yet . i went with a thumb throttle over the twist the kit came with cause i did not want to loose my front derail-er . the handle bars just got too biz-y with all that up there . just had to match the connector , and read what the new wire colors did , it was out there for a plug and play . on that thought without any power you may want youre lower gears as there is some drag when peddling ; under power it really goes . as i talk to other people with motors it seams there is a lag as to when the power comes on and shuts off . more so on the peddle assist than throttle . just like new cars you have to get used to it . putting it together i did have there frame spacing but still needed to pry it a little to get the wheel in , 340 miles and it is all good yet . so all in all it is a great store , really good kit . i am so much more than happy with it that i bought a second kit if the bike gets stolen i can do it again . i love it . hope one works for you like this one works for me .

just read the thing . think i should add the axle . for lack of a better term it is keyed , flat lands coming in bit not all the way . not the full length of the axle . the kit came with 2 tabbed keyed washers and 2 none tabbed keyed washers . on the gear set side i put the none tabbed on first then shimmed with standard washers till i had a full 1/8 inch between the teeth of the gear set to the frame . then a shim washer that i had to find so when i put the tabbed washer and everything sat flat on the frame . the other side was the tabbed then shim to frame , with that tabbed guy on the outside . yes it took a few times to get it but i thought it was worth the time . then both sides got the toque arm before the nut . good luck with that part . i fitted mine a few times before i got them in a place i thought they would help ?
also the kit came with the tire and inner tube . not top top top of the line but work really good . i some how got a flat and because the motor is so strong did not know it for anywhere up to 4 1/2 miles : and i now have over 200 miles on that repaired tire . the tire and RIM seam to be holding up . thats a good set up they gave me in my book .
    hope this helps .

Controller is weak, the pedal assist is always on, it keeps an error 11 on screen, switches between 60 and 48 volts. It cuts out alot, it doesnt have a defined setting for 52v deoending on battery level it does this mostly when the battery over 52v(58.6 full). It gets really hot and the motor doesnt even really get warm. That twist throttle was iffy. Its fast tho i get to about 37mph, on an old hardtail 26″
The cut outs are brief tho, soon as u notice it it kicks back in im used to it. Im gonna swap controller for sure. The motor is a beast tho
