★★★★★ Great value. I started cycling avidly in 1980, then worked at a Schwinn store from 1986 thru 1994. I haven't ridden a bike in nearly 10 years. I used to sell and service bikes for eight years. I cannot express how amazed I am at the quality of this Schwinn bike! The fact that it features disk brakes, a front suspension, an aluminum frame, index shifter, and great quality is just amazing! And the fact that all of that was less than 300 bucks is mind boggling! I feel like I won the lottery!

★★★★☆ A decent bike for the money with a few small issues. The media could not be loaded.  This is the first bike I have bought for myself since 1986. My previous bike disappeared about 15 years ago and I have been without one since. I've gotten lazy and out of shape during the COVID era and decided I needed to do something to get active again before it's too late. I looked at a lot of bikes on Amazon trying to decide what to get, but this one managed to rise to the top based on features and price. I'm not going to be racing offroad or anything. I just wanted a basic bike suitable for riding around the neighborhood with perhaps the occasional excursion down a dirt road or path.The features that attracted me were the aluminum frame with lighter claimed weight than most of the competition in this category, disk brakes front and rear, and front suspension. I would have liked both front and rear suspension, but they tend to get heavier in that category. I also figured the Schwinn name has been around for a long time, so that might be worth something. (Though it seems like most reputable brands of our youth have become just marketing tools for the same offshore goods as every other brand)The box arrived in good condition within 4 days after I placed the order, including a weekend. There were few dings and scrapes on the outside, but nothing that appeared to penetrate to the bike itself. Unboxing was super easy: Opened the top flap and lifted the whole thing out.Assembly was typical for any bike. Just attach the pedals, handlebars, seat, and front wheel. The pedals took a 15mm box wrench. Most of the rest of the bolts took a 5mm hex key. Some of the adjustments required a Phillips (or JIS) screwdriver. The quick releases on the seat post and front wheel work well and hold securely when properly adjusted. The handlebars were the trickiest part mainly due to having to get all the cables routed properly. It took some fiddling and I'm still not 100% sure I have them routed the best way.At 5'7" with a 30" inseam, the height of this 27.5" version fits me just about perfect. I can stand over the bar flat footed and I just barely touch it. I wasn’t thrilled that yellow was the only color available for this model, but now that it’s here, I can say I kind of like the color. Certainly, easy to spot in a crowd. 😊As you would expect with any new bike that you are assembling yourself, there were some adjustments that had to be made. The rear brake did nothing out of the box. Easy enough to fix by taking some slack out of the cable. The front brake kind of worked, but also needed to take out a little slack. The front caliper was not centered on the disk and pulled it sideways when applied. Even though this is my first bike with disk brakes, it didn't take long to figure out how to adjust it even without looking at the manual. I moved the brake levers around a little for comfort. The front and rear derailers both required some minor adjustment in order to get them to move through all the gear combinations smoothly.All in all, I doubt it took more than an hour to get it assembled, adjusted, and road tested.First impressions are that it is a decent bike for the money. There are a couple issues though. One minor, and one that I am debating contacting the manufacturer about. The minor issue is that the seat is crooked. It tilts to the side quite noticeably. (see photo) I tried loosening the adjustment/mounting bolt on the bottom to see if I could twist it straight, but no avail. I don't notice that much while riding (the seat isn't very comfortable no matter what), but it does make the bike look cheap or damaged.The bigger issue is the forks. They have what seems to me like way more "slop" than they should have. Maybe it's because I am used to motorcycle forks which are pretty tight in comparison, but these have a huge amount of play in them. If I had to make a diagnosis, I’d say the bushings are either the wrong size or totally worn out. You can really notice by holding the front brake and rocking the bike forward and back. (see video) The whole fork twists due to the disk applying side torque. On top of that, the fork travel is quite stiff and they don't seem to do much other than make the front end feel looser. I am not impressed. Maybe that's typical of bicycle forks, I don't know. I haven't had much experience with modern bike suspension. I don’t notice it while riding though.Others have complained about the manual not being specific to the bike, but honestly, I've never bought a bike that didn't just have a generic manual. (I haven't bought myself many bikes, but I have assembled a LOT of them for others over the years). I didn't actually even read the manual until after I had everything assembled, and it didn't really tell me anything I couldn't figure out on my own. If you are experienced with bicycle maintenance, you won’t have any problems.Overall, it seems like a decent bike for the money. Pretty typical of others I have assembled. I haven't ridden more than a few miles yet, but it seemed to ride fine for the short tests around the neighborhood. My only real issue is with the forks. I may try taking them apart to see if there is anything that can be done, or contact the manufacturer to see if it’s normal.I also just noticed the price jumped up by about sixty dollars since I ordered mine. Glad I got it when I did. I might have chosen a different one had it been at the new price when I was comparing.

★☆☆☆☆ Bought an pay as a new bicycle and is used. I assembled the bicycle yesterday during the night and finished at 12:05 am of today, Monday 09/18/23. I did not used yet.I bought and pay for the bicycle as new, but this is a used bicycle, I understand if for some reason could be a small scratches during the shipping (which also is not normal, but understandable) but in this case the scratches are too big. Also there are a marks on the wheels when someone else used the breaks. Both tires also had dust.Definitely a used bike. I payed for something new and this bicycle clearly is not new. I would like to have a discount or something. This is not normal.I will use the bicycle for first time in a few hours to see if at least can be used without mechanical issues. Someone else returned this bicycle -I don't have any doubts- and then Amazon sent that to me, the question is why.***UPDATE***In the same way that I had the time to write the previous review, I would like to inform that Amazon after seeing my complain and evidence they gave me a discount for the bicycle, THANKS AMAZON for your amazing support and quick response.Also as I said in my first comment finally I got the time to use the bicycle and I strongly recommend it, ride is comfortable and also is too light and really fast, the 27.5 inches tires help a lot to ride smoothly, also has a very good suspension.This is my second Schwinn mountain bicycle, I also had the first one and works fine even when is 15 years old bicycle. I also have a road bike from different manufacturing. I am a 46 YO and started using bicycles when I was 5 or 6 years old. Since then I used a lot of different bikes. I strongly recommend Schwinn, there are another companies offering expensive products but at the end they are very similar.One friend and I did a comparative between his expensive bicycle and mine and at the end he prefers mine because was faster and less expensive.I will update my comment as soon as see any news with my purchase.I hope this information helps.And thanks again to Amazon support.Jesus.

★★★☆☆ Honest review. Cheap a$$ bike. To the point! Right out of the box I noticed the bike wasn't assembled correctly. Brake lines were routed wrong and the goose neck for the handle bars was assembled backwards. No biggie to correct. BUT, during the first ride I noticed shifting problems. Shifts like total garbage and not smooth at all. During an up hill climb and shifting to an easier gear, it wouldn't stay in the selected gear. Chain kept slipping and I actually had to get off and walk the bike. Definitely needs some major adjustments. Not a quality bike at all but what can I say. You get what you pay for! Not too happy with it.

★☆☆☆☆ Not a good purchase. Bought this for my 10 yo for Christmas. Bike took some time to assemble but came together pretty easily. Issues:The wheels are not straight and contact the brake pads sporadically while riding, making a scrubbing sound. I made significant adjustments to the brake pad spacing but could not easily dial it in to the spacing referenced in the manual - needed wider spacing to avoid contacting the tire.The derailleurs were not indexed properly. I followed the instructions step by step to set the low and high limits, then adjusted the thumbscrews to adjust the indexing. I spent 4 hours (not exaggerating) adjusting and could not get the shifting to work properly - it skipped gears, and the bike would often shift gears on its own while pedaling. Front derailleur was trash, could never get it to shift into the smallest gear. The shifters were “tight” especially for the front gearing, my son couldn’t even shift it to the smallest gear because it was so tight.Ultimately I decided to return it, too much wasted time trying to make it functional. Don’t waste your time on this bike, it’s trash just like many of the other reviewers said. I wish I’d listened to them, but I was attracted to the positive reviews and the price seemed reasonable.At the very least, don’t trash the box after buying it, because you can’t return it without the box. I had to buy a $20 bike box just to return it after trashing the original box (which was damaged on the bottom). Fortunately Amazon covered the cost of the bike box and made this return process pretty easy.

★★★☆☆ Good enough, for the price. Sort of got finessed with this one for 180 or so dollars, however, it's 'fine' for the price, especially for a beginner and a commuter, I guess... Hard to really even call it a 'mountain bike', this is pretty sketch right out of the box and shouldn't see any rough use until it gets checked out and tuned up after assembly.The stock seat is horribly uncomfortable, the handlebar is a little frustrating to align, and honestly, this design is almost like a hybrid bike that's way heavier with knobby tires and mostly useless fork suspension. For me, it's decent enough for the abysmal sidewalks and bike paths in my city, but most certainly not fast or speedy enough to compete on the road, at least not at a cost-effective effort with its weight and lack of aerodynamics.That being said, still a decent enough commuting bike, not the best but it certainly gets the job done, and certainly beats walking once you replace the seat and get some cargo racks and baskets. Though, I personally wouldn't go too hard on this thing for actual mountain-cycling, it creaks and clamors already on a flat sidewalk as is.

★★★★☆ Simple mountain bike. This bike is just what I wanted, a simple mountain bike to start out with. Its a bit expensive for what it is. Assembly was easy until it was time to adjust the brake handles. The bike comes partially assembled but the brake handles were sitting on top of the grips, making them impossible to use. Easy to fix, with a screw driver, except the gear handles were installed right in front of the screw, so you need to move the gear handles to be able to move the brake handles. Fortunately, a simple allen wrench twist and you can adjust them. Unfortunately, an allen wrench that fits is not included. I had to go on a mission to find one that fit. When I did, the screw was so tight, I had to use pliers for leverage and it bent the allen wrench. I can finally ride my bike now and it seems fine. Id probably like it better if I could have ridden it immediately after I put it together. Maybe I need more allen wrenches in my tool box.

When riding over rough ground, seat pops up for no reason-unable to just adjust- has to be removed and corrected with wrench. Tried 3 chats to have this seat replaced and was offered a $20 discount and I can go out buy a replacement seat. WOW, where is warranty, where is customer service - asking me to disassemble this bike - rebox it and return it for a refund vs just replacing the defective part. This is not acceptable when making purchase of a new product.

The hardware on the bike is mediocre but .. knew that. The bike does everything you need it to do .. unless you're a "bike person". If you ride this too hard .. it breaks. If you use it for transportation, or if you need a good beater for your kid who will be throwing this at the ground repeatedly until they move out of your house chasing some dream job in cosmetology or whatever nightmare they're dreaming of .. this is the bike for you.Assembly was complicated by the fact that it's just an okay bike. The tools they include are enough to assemble the bike with but, you can cut your assembly time in half if you just have some basic tools lying around the house.The bike rides and feels fine. With some fine tuning on the brakes and shifter mechanism, the bike would stop and shift fine.Solid "bang for the buck" on this but, if you spend another couple hundred bucks, there are better choices that would be worth much more than the extra investment.All in all .. this is okay and it's fine unless you're really trying to do anything outside the realm of "commuting".

★★★★★ Easy to Assemble and Meets My Needs. I live in a medium-sized neighborhood; I bought this bike to more easily travel within my neighborhood without having to use my car for very short trips. I have never assembled a bike before, but I was able to assemble this one quite easily. The instructions were a bit confusing, because instructions are included for several different versions of the bike, but once I acclimated to which instructions were applicable to me, it wasn't very hard. I did have to purchase a few items for assembly, but they were not very costly, and they will be useful additions to my toolbox. Assembly really only entailed attaching the handlebars, seat and pedals. All of the gear mechanism was already assembled. The bike is easy to ride and operate. So far, I'm completely satisfied with this purchase!

★☆☆☆☆ Not well made, parts already braking, no customer support. My husband and I recently bought the above bike on Amazon for our son for his birthday. We studied reviews and felt good about this being a good bike for a big kid--he's almost 6' and a stout guy. He loved the look of the bike; however, after a couple weeks of use, we've been very disappointed in the quality and functions of the bike.Here are several items of note:1) The handle bar--this bar, although sleek looking, does not offer much room for adjustment and it is very uncomfortable, even painful, to ride for our son, me (5'8") and my husband (6'1"). We all experienced pinched shoulders and neck even after riding it just around the block. A neighbor helped us put a different handlebar in to raise the grip a bit, and although it helps, it's not quite the right size for the bike, the overall grip is still pretty narrow. Which means we will have to keep shopping around to make adjustments.2) The handle grips and gear shift--these are entirely too small and spaced too close together! My son's hand, if he grips with a standard 4 finger grip, overlaps with the gear shift, so gears are shifting when he's just holding on to the handlebars and not meaning to shift gears.3) The pedal/crank set--there is a decent amount of wiggle room in this. As I understand, this should be a pretty sturdy feel, but it jiggles. It doesn't appear that this is anything we can adjust, it is as it came. We had the bike professionally put together, and the mechanic noted this right away.4) The kickstand--it has already bent and bends forward with the weight of the bike and no longer works.Overall, we are extremely disappointed in this bike. We feel that for the money, we shouldn't be having all these issues right away with it. We reached out to the manufacturer, and have not heard any response back. I'd shop for a different bike!

★★★★★ MARCH 30, 2021 UPDATE, 2ND PURCHASE. The order stated 3 day shipping and it took 6 days, but more importantly FedEx delivered the box all tore up with bottom flaps wide open and the box of pedals lying on the ground outside of the main carton. The bike suffered several deep scratches that really bummed me out! I decided to live with it as I hate to send things back unless I have to. Other than that the bike is very nice at this price point and would have received 5 stars from me if it wasn't damaged, despite the slow arrival.It went together very easily, but did need rerouting of the cables which could not be completely untangled as well as some minor tuning. I also replaced the skinny rock hard seat with a super comfortable TONBUX seat that almost matches the color perfectly (best $20 I ever spent!). It rides like a dream on the rough dirt and rocky mountain roads near my house, the full suspension and big 29" tires really soak in the bumps, very smooth. I am very pleased with the overall performance of the bike so far, it shifts very quickly up and down and the disk brakes are strong. I am 5'9" tall / 185 lbs. and the bike has plenty of seat adjustment left, I would say it will handle up to a 6'2" rider, but not much shorter than 5'8" comfortably. I would highly recommend this bike to anyone that is NOT interested in hard core wide open down hill mountain trail riding. I am sure the bike can handle any trail at controlled speeds, but sustained high speed down hill mountain trail riding needs more bike than this, i.e. hydraulic brakes & better suspension, or in other words spending at least double or triple what this bike cost. At under $400 dollars it is a great bike.UPDATE: After several long rides on very rocky mountain roads and trails I just had to change my rating from 4 to 5 stars. This bike is that nice, and it didn't seem fair to down grade the rating due to slow poor FedEx service.18 MONTH FOLLOW-UP:Loving this well made Schwinn! Have many miles of very hard riding on it now and it is holding up well. Zero issues and still functioning perfectly. There is a slight amount of seepage at the front forks but that is normal. I have just about worn out the tires but that is after a lot of miles, most of which were ridden on rough rocky roads with zero flats. Overall this bike is a winner. Well worth the current price.MARCH 30, 2021 UPDATE:Just purchased a 2nd Traxion for my wife; after she borrowed mine she had to have one. This one arrived in perfect condition via UPS. Had to fine tune the brakes and shifters but that is easy. The people here having pedal/crank problems are causing the problem themselves by installing them dry and severly over tightening them. Put a little grease on the threads and take them down to just beyond finger tight. They are threaded opposite of the crank rotation and will not back out, and if you ever need to replace them they'll come out easily without seizing or galling. Great bike for the money!

★★★★★ Wasn’t bad at all. Few thing I had to do. Update still going. Got close to 100miles on it.Not bad at all. A few things I had to do. Adjust the back derailed. And had adjust the front brake. The seat I’m not sugar coat it. Is rough on the bottom. And any down hill coasting be careful. I way about 220lbs and was a inch from maxing front forks. Other then that did well after a total of 10miles of a trail and climbing 900ft up in evaluation and back down. With some hills pretty steep. Still not a bad but for what u get. Did a 2nd ride on another mountain trail. Climbing 400ft. And doing over 9miles. Still holding up well. Had zip tie the brake cables etc as the plastic c clips stretch. So I’m was hearing something rubbing my rear tire. Then found out what it was and took care of that. I expect few more things as I keep riding. But still not disappointed with my buy. Will keep editing and updating for more ppl know this product. As they did have some crappy reviews for a while.

★★★★☆ Decent for an entry level bike, don't expect it to be mid to high-end. I got this to replace a $100 super store special, and for the most part, it's been pretty good. Assembly wasn't difficult and took about 30 minutes. Bike was adjusted and ready to ride out of the box. While it has suspension components, it's a very basic suspension. The front forks are pretty soft and not adjustable. The rear suspension, while adjustable, doesn't really change the feel . I'm 5'9" and I feel the frame is a bit large for me. Tires feel like they lack some grip in the turns on soft surfaces, but I'm still dialing in my air pressure. The brakes do their job. The gears give a good spread of options. The front derailleur isn't the smoothest, but works.I've put about 50 miles on it doing a mix of dirt trail riding, small rock trails, small jumps and street/neighborhood riding and it's handled all of those environments well. I wouldn't attempt to use it on any very technical or steep segments as it's not built for those types of trails.My only real complaint is that there was a frequent clunk sound from the rear wheel/gear cassette area. Support was not very helpful and even with sending them video of the issue, they said I was improperly using the bike (letting it freewheel when not pedaling). They also kept blaming other components (derailleur, chain, petals), even when I showed them where the issue was. Once I got transferred over to a supervisor, they immediately sent out some new rear wheel parts and that took care of the issue.In short, don't expect it to be a high end bike, and it's not a $100 big box deal. It's decent if you're looking to upgrade from a beginner bike to something a bit more capable, without spending lots of money.

★★★★★ Assembly Info. Assembly:Removal of the bike from the box and removal of all the packaging/protection takes about 15 minutes. It was packed very well and the box was in excellent condition.Bike assembly took about 45 minutes including some minor adjustments. The instructions are okay, they are for several different bikes though. Some of the tools required are not even used, and the size indicated to use is different on some items. It is mostly pre-assembled with only the front wheel, seat, and pedals to install. The handlebar stem comes backwards due to packaging, so you will need to loosen the top bolt under the rubber cap and spin it 180 degrees. Make sure that when you mount the handlebar to the stem, that the cables are not twisted. they should be on each side as they come up the frame. Of course you will need to center the handlebar stem to the front wheel. The only adjustments I had to make after a ride around the yard, was to the front and rear brakes. They needed to be tightened up a little so that the handles were catching the brakes at approx. a 1/3 pull. The manual explains how to adjust.Overall I am happy with it. Looks great! No marks from shipping and all of the stickers are applied correctly. I will add to this review after I put some miles on it!

Tries to adjust the gears, but to no avail. I got it close but either the chain runs while pedalling l, or the gears don't move to the next sprocket when the trigger is pulled... I'm going to try again tonight after work, bit I'd like to talk to the seller a out this issue.... a brand new bike out of the box should change gears.... I think.On the plus side, it's a really nice looking bike... very frustrated with it though....I sent this bike back, the customer service from both amazon and schwinn, were impeccable, so much so, that I'm going to order another one, and hope it's not defective. My fingers are crossed, and I'll post again when the next one comes.

This review is for the Mongoose Salvo mountain bike, size large frame.I purchased this bike to commute to lunch during work hours and for the occasional off-road riding.The bike comes in a large box with a few parts requiring install such as: handle bars, front wheel, reflectors, seat and pedal wheels. Everything is wrapped and protected for shipping. It did not come with assembly instructions but did come with a nice owner’s manual. Installing the parts without assembly instructions was fairly intuitive. The package did not come with tools for the install. You will need a decent assortment of allen wrenches and a ¾” wrench to install the pedals. It took me a little over an hour to unbox and assemble. The allen screws appear to have lock-tite on them from the factory, that is a nice touch ensuring they won’t unscrew.I am 6’-2” tall and weigh 180 pounds. The large frame fit me perfect. I would say a shorter person could fit on the large frame as well as the seat is lots of room for adjustment. The bike is fairly light which makes it nice to pick up and maneuver if need be.I have never owned a geared mountain bike so the shifting gears depending on the terrain slope was new to me. Be careful when continually downshifting the gear for uphill riding, the chain will shift off the gears. This happened to me and it took some work to get the chain back on the gears. Proper understanding of the shifting and realizing there is second lever for upshifting will eliminate your chain and gear problems.Overall the bike rides and feels great. It is very sturdy and the shocks really do a good job dampening the rough terrain. The front and center shocks are all adjustable to your liking. I see myself riding this bike for years to come. The front and rear brakes have some serious stopping power I might add.I purchased the black color which has a semi-matte finish. It's sleek and a really good looking bike.

★★★★★ Hitting the Trails like a Pro. Shipping was fast, but the box definitely incurred a lot of bumps and bruises. I was pleased to see I wasn't missing any components as there were a couple of holes in the box itself. The frame did sustain a few scratches in the same area. Wasn't happy about that, but they are minor and I am sure I will put on way more after riding it on the trails.It looked like a good base frame bike to buy and then maybe add some upgrades, but I don't want to change a thing! Quality components give it a smooth ride. Gears/shifters are responsive and handle well. Aggressive tread also helps with climbing rough terrain. I haven't been able to take it on speedy downhills yet, but so far it feels very stable for what I have done.Assembly wasn't difficult, but do follow the instruction manual. It gets a little confusing because the manual refers to some parts that do not come with the bike (not needed), so that can be a little confusing. I am a fairly handy person and I did not have any troubles with assembly. You will need a couple of tools. I used my Allen Wrench set and a adjustable wrench. Very excited to hit some more trails!

Bike was doing well, around 2,000 miles. Excellent brakesUnfortunately, the chain broke out on the road. Waiting for a higher-grade chain.

★★★★☆ The Frame Tectonic T2 Aluminum and Geometry Rocker Link Suspension Is An Open Canvas. The frame and geometry Rocker Link Suspension is an open canvas. Well design and strong material Tectonic T2 Aluminum Frame... Make it your own project to build. The rest of the bike is plain simple an entry level trail bike. With some upgrades such as the front fork and rear shock and drive train, this bike can compete with the high end and priced name brands at around 4K to7K range. These are some of the upgrades I made to this bike: Handle bar, Stem, Headset. Original handle bar did not offer adjstment for riser or upsweep and back sweep. The stem was too shor and flat. The new stem upgrade offered me 90mm in lenght and 17deg. uprise which it quickly made the difference in handling the bike on the trail with confort better fit and control. The headset bearings are not sealed bearings, they are open case retainer style, I upgraded to seal bearings which they dont require any or little maintenance and will perform and last longer. The seatpost is straight upright zero offset and not much going on for adjustment. The upgraded seatpost offered me adjustment to the rear by about one inch as well as a thicker aluminum wall to 3mm for stiffeness. The original seatpost did not come with a quick release clamp. This is an absolute big NO NO. This was also upgraded to a quick release clamp. The problem with this was that the frame, right at the top of the seat clamp neck, the paint and the anodize is not there its unfinished and it shows bare aluminum all around for about 1 1/2" inch wide. Why they this this? IDK...The original drivetrain is just not the right combination for this bike if you are only riding trails with some moderate down hill, and technical swithch backs with mininal uphills. The 12 speed cassette is an over kill on almost any terrain. I upgraded the drive train to shimano HG400 9 speed mountain bike cassette as well as a 9 speed Shimano Acera RD-M370 rear derailleur with shimano CN-HG93 116 link 9 speed chain and shimano Altus ST-EF505 hydraulic brake/shifter combination, just to make it suitable for the trail systems you will find in North Texas. (DFW Area). The Shimano BR-M201/BR-MT200, hydraulic, aluminum, 160 mm rotor brakes work well and do the job just fine with good stopping power and there is no need for and upgrade. The original shifters are pretty decent and at least a great name brand (SRAM) these you can keep they work really great with crips response paired up with the SRAM rear deraillure. No complaints about these two componets. Then again these got replaced due to the unnecessary need of the 12 speed factory setup. The SRAM 175MM. crankset and bottom bracket also got replace due to the incorportated 30T single speed sprocket. This does not allow you to add a chain ring guard to protect the single sprockett. The new shimano M5100 Deore 175mm. 32T single sprocket crankset allows you to add the chain ring guard to protect the single 32T sprocket. This new crankset was paired with shimano BB-Hollowtech II bottom bracket since I could not use the factory SRAM Powerspline bottom bracket. The factory pedals are garbage which is understandable, most people upgrade these anyway. Replaced them with Venzo CNC-CR-Mo forged 6066 sealed SPD clipless Pedals. Great price for these nice looking and highly recommended. Handle bar grips also got replaced with silicone grips and grip locks. Some of the quality issues to be noted on this; 01- Factory Headset Star Nut inside the front fork steer tube was broken or intalled incorrectly. Had to purchase a Star Nut Setting tool and new star nut and re-install. 02-The paint and anodize on the seat tube near the quick release neck was unfinished exposing bare aluminium and potential for rust. 03-The headset retaining ball bearing set, with little or no grease. Now on positive notes; the pricepoint for this bike is on a fair and low range. I was able to pick up this bike on sale for $1,163.84 plus tax (Amazon.com) The regular price was $1999.99. The frame geometry makes this bike a really fun bike to ride and it handles really well on switchbacks and some medium down hill trails. It's also fun to work on it and make it your own project to build without breaking the bank with medium range components and name brands. This was my absolute intention from the beginning, after doing my research on this bike and the great potential that offers. I am not a proffesional mountain bike rider but I do love to ride and keep myself in great shape and throught my 20 plus year of experience riding trails in different states I beleive this is is the best way to do it. I Love to ride every time I get the chance and this bike will be a part of it for a long time.

★★★☆☆ Derailleur was bent on arrival. I like the bike, overall, but the derailleur was bent on arrival.This cost me many hours of frustration as well as a broken chain on the trails.Mongoose needs to do better getting this bike to the customers door in running condition.
