Works as an entry-level road bike, tires aren't great. Assembly wasn't too difficult, it took about an hour and didn't require anything complex or significant adjustment of gears (for me at least). After a few hundred miles I have enjoyed the riding and while it isn't anything fancy (aluminum frame, pad brakes etc) it does shift gears pretty well and isn't so heavy.I did not like the tires that came with it however - they gave me tons of flats consistently on my normal routes. After going through about 5 tubes in a row, swapping out for sturdier tires was necessary for me to stop the flats, adding to the wheel weight.
Air on tires, they run at 90psi. Make sure to add air prior to first ride. For intermediate road biker. Easy to assemble, light weight for it's class.
Acceptable for a Newbie Road Bike. Updating the review & adding a 3rd picture. Restating - if you live in a hilly area, do yourself a favor. Swap out that factory 14-28 freewheel for a SunRace MFM300 - 14-34. The gears are evenly spaced apart & hill climbing will be so much easier.Make no mistake about it…this is the most basic road bike you can buy with Shimano STI shifters. Tourney components are at the bottom of the Totem Pole. However, this bike can be “acceptable” for newbies and old fools like me who don’t need a bike costing $1,000 or more. But…no bike, no matter what the cost comes perfect out-of-the-box. The first thing I did after unboxing & inspecting everything was throw the pedals away! A) The bearings inside were bone dry. The spindles wouldn’t turn. B) Schwinn must think I have very small feet. Helpful hints…1. During assembly, apply some white lithium grease or Park Tool PolyLube to the pedal threads & inside the seat-post tube. Otherwise, over time these will seize up and become permanently affixed to the bike. Same thing with the freewheel. Get yourself a Shimano freewheel remover & make sure those threads also have a light coating of grease.2. If you live in a hilly area, that Shimano 14-28 freewheel just won’t cut it. Replaced it with a SunRace 14-34.3. Toss those front & rear reflectors away or save them in a scrounge box. For visibility, get lights! Even the picture from Schwinn shows a rider with a headlight during daylight hours. Be seen!4. You should have emergency supplies in a seat-bag. The BV Bicycle Strap-On Seat Bag is a good choice. Always carry a spare tube, tire levers and multi-purpose folding tool.5. Back to assembly… Brake pads should be slightly toed-in, towards the front of the bike. This prevents squeaking and provides better stopping power.6. During the break-in period, derailleurs may need some fine tuning. Maybe right out of the box too. Mine was. I needed to turn the barrel nut adjuster about two turns on the rear derailleur counterclockwise to grab 1st gear. The Park Tool Help Repair website is chock full of articles and videos.Happy riding!
Good beginners bike, but don’t better options can be found. Good- easy to assemble, 90 % pre assembled, relatively light, well engineered, fast, comfy stock seat strictly for short distances, overall a good beginner bikeBad- gear system is primitive could be better - changes automatically when in middle order gears, seats are tight, padded shorts helps.
Great ride. Easy to assemble, smooth ride, absolutely beautiful bike
Am I enjoying this thing. I think I got a great deal on this bike. The model has probably been discontinued. But I love it. I have never had a bike like this and it took me a while to figure out how to adjust it but I think I got it (thank God for YouTube!). I'm having the time of my life with it. I'm in shape but not for bike riding and can only do 10 to 12 miles at a time. And I enjoy every minute of it!
Pedal malfunction. This bike is very light and awesome to ride if both pedals are operational. I’m not sure if you send replacement pedals that malfunctioned but that would be cool if you would.. other than that the bike seems to be ok.
Cool bike. I like the bike! I’m a beginner road biker, and it rides pretty smooth. Putting it together was a bit challenging but I got it done. I’ve had never worked on a bike before. The seat is a bit hard for me but I’m sure a more experience rider would be fine.

Great entry-level road bike. For the price, this is an excellent entry-level road bike. The flat bar is nice, but the grips slide around and needed to be swapped out (this is the only real negative about this bike, I'd take a quarter star off) The geometry is great for speed and hill climbing. The derailluers shift quickly, smoothly and accurately. They only required a little adjustment out of the box. The brakes do squeal, which is inherent on some disk brakes so Im not sure if the adjustment is off or its just the pads.It was very easy to assemble. Requires only a few basic tools. Adjustable wrench (or open-end wrenches), a set of good hex keys and a screwdriver is all I needed. I would have a local bike professional tune it up after assembly if you don't know how to adjust the derailleur and brakes. However,YouTube has videos and it's not hard once you get the hang of what everything adjusts for.I did need a gel cover for the seat or would definitely recommend riding shorts.I ride about 20 miles a day on this bike and overall am very happy with it!
Best bike I ever had. I have this bike for almost 7 years. I rode more than 15 thousand miles using it as road/hybrid heavy duty commuter.Once again, getting new pedals and seat. Another chain and cassette worn out. Still I don't see a single reason to change this bike. It is damn perfect. Light, maneuverable and controllable, durable. I can't believe I got this beauty on sale for 415 bucks, definitely worth twice that.
Bike came with one defect......will update if Schwinn sends replacement part. Everything was fine until I started riding it. The one issue (a big issue) is that the left pedal keeps coming off. I have assembled multiple bikes in the past, and had no issues as of yet. This one took about 15 minutes to assemble and tune up after I got everything unwrapped out of the box. The left pedal tread seemed to be damaged, and the left pedal would come off when riding. I will update it to 5 stars when Schwinn sends me a replacement part for the left pedal and the left crank arm.UPDATE: THEY RESPONDED ONCE AND THEN STOPPED RESPONDING. DO NOT BUY SCHWINN. THEY WILL NOT SEND YOU PARTS OR REPAIR EVEN IF YOU'RE UNDER WARRANTY. DO. NOT. PURCHASE. SCHWINN. BIKES. SPEND A BIT MORE FOR A BETTER FRAME ANYWAYS AND YOU'LL THANK YOURSELF LATER.AFTER REPAIRING THE BIKE WITH MY OWN MONEY, IT RIDES TERRIBLY AND HAS TROUBLE SWITCHING GEARS SOMETIMES.
The Phocus 1600 is a good (enough) bike for beginners. This bike is good value for the money, as most big brands offer their entry level models at or slightly above $1000. I bought this bike at $770 at the time of review on Amazon. It conveniently ships within a few days.I am 5'9" and I bought the 53 cm frame, which works great. I prefer the smaller size always, as it is lighter and easier to pack. The bike needs assembly, so if you are not familiar with bike mechanics, I still suggest to consider going to your local bike store and buying a bike from them, pre-assembled and tuned up. The assembly took me about 1-2 hours, I didn't measure it. The breaks needed a bit of an adjustment, which is just tightening a screw, but the derailleurs needed a lot of tinkering. I was able to do all this myself from past experience and Youtube, but if you are a total beginner, you won't be able to do this and your shifting will be noisy or even worse - throw the chains off your cogs. It is worth noting that the Shimano Claris R2000 group set is not supposed to be noisy or do such things, so if it doesn't work for you, it likely needs adjustments. The bike comes with cheap tubes that popped after a few days, as I left the bike in the car on a hot summer day. Rookie mistake, it can happen to expensive bikes too. The tube also comes with Schroeder valves which are the same as cars, but I found it hard to inflate with a handheld pump. I had to take the bike to a gas station to inflate it to 80 PSI! not convenient.I replaced the front tube with a Continental tube ($15 for two) with a Presta valve which was easy enough to inflate at home with a small, handheld pump.To sum it up, as you see, the bike requires a good bit of assembly and adjustments. If you have never done that, I would suggest cashing out $1000 for a known brand at a bike store and they will tune it up for you.I hope this helps!
Great deal on a good bike. It's been a while since I've bought a new bike. Never considered buying a Schwinn because I associated the brand with being cheap and old school. Since college I've owned a Nishiki, Giant, Specialized, top of the line bikes. I bought this bike purely based on price as nowadays I'm more a leisure rider. I have to say upon arrival I'm impressed with Schwinn's quality. The bike was packaged extremely well, instructions to put the bike together were easy (about 30-45 minutes), extremely light weight, and looks great. Despite ease of assembly I suggest taking it to a bike shop and have them 'tune' it (about $60) after you put it together or $100 (approx) for both assembly and tune. That way you can be assured everything is calibrated and adjusted properly. Overall I'm very happy with the quality of this bike.
Got this bike from Amazon. It looks amazing. I put Continental Gatorskin 28mm tires on it and Shimano SPD-SL pedals. Removed the reflectors and boom. Look at this thing. It’s beautiful. It’s at the LBS right now getting tuned but I rode it around the street and other than the gears needing indexing it’s light and fast. Can’t wait to take it out.UPDATE: Weather allowed me to take it out for 3 rides this week. 30k plus each of them. I averaged 27kmph on the rides on crisp March mornings. This thing is fast. Claris system works well. I did have it tuned at the shop. Shifts like a dream. Worth the money but put 28mm foldable tires on it.
I wanted a sturdy all purpose bike to ride on the trails and this bike delivered. I would buy it again.
So far really good, i took it to a bike shop for tuning and assembling as recommended on some reviews and i think it was accurate to do that.. bike feels super light and it really can go fast.I made a lot of research before buying this bike and other more known brands with even worst parts are been sold for more than 1200$cad..Ill update if something happen later..
Excellent entry level bike for a really good price.
The bike took me awhile to assemble and adjust. I replaced the tires with puncture resistant ones, as I do not trust the ones it comes with. After riding it a bit, I realized that its front and rear derailleurs were miss-aligned. After a few youtube tutorials, I fixed them.Everything seemed good, until I noticed a sand grinding noise from the rear wheel (which I later discovered was coming from the freehub). So, I ended up purchasing tools and took the cassette apart. Doing so, I notice the rear hub and axel assembly were extremely tight, and hard to twist by hand. This led me to check the front hub also - and same issue... the ball bearings in both wheels were over squeezed.. So I ended taking the hubs apart, replaced the ball bearings (which I also ended up purchasing), lubricated the rear freehub which was making that sand grinding noise all along and voila, I am now a certified bike repairman! After going through all this pain, the bike is fast, silent and a pleasure to ride! I give it lots of love, and tell it goodnight before bed!Looking back, I did not fully appreciate what the reviewers meant when they said that this bike needs to be tuned and adjusted before ridding.O, and also, it weighs 24lbs! :)Edit: This review was for a bike that cost CDN$ 908.00 (tax included)

Gotta do it. Gotta give it a 5. Not sure if it was a mistake or not, but I assembled and tuned it up myself. Let's just say getting this thing together taught me more than I'd ever like to know about a bike. I jacked up the frame from having to move the front derailleur about 20 times. And it's still not exactly right. But ultimately, I got this bike for 140 dollars (it was an open box item), which is absolutely insane. Good luck trying to find a better deal than even the 180 or whatever it is for a new oneI've put hundreds of miles on it so far with no signs of any problem.Oh and the seat is god awful, I would buy a new one ASAP. Also the pedals don't allow for feet straps
You get what you paid for. TRASH. I ordered this bike as I am wanting to start riding around for a bit of exercise, nothing crazy or to intense. I assembled the bike and on the handlebars it has a clear indication that it can't be positioned over a certain line. I made sure to follow instructions to a T on everything. After 5 or 6 rides around my neighborhood which at most has a very slight hill. After the 5 or 6th ride I heard a weird creaking/ scratching from the handlebar. After some investigation I found the whole handlebar was completely broken in half. You get what you pay for, this is made of either the most brittle material ever made for a bike, or a manufacturing flaw caused this. I wouldn't mind a manufacturing flaw, but of course they tried to sell me a new kit after only a month of having the bike.Don't buy it. spend the extra money for a decent bike. Even if you are a beginner like me.
Hard to assemble with lots of loose stuff but not a bad value for money. Overall a good bike for the price I paid but few tips. FIrst of all the handlebar does not center properly, you have to try at least 10-20 times, then road test to feel the exact center, additionally my package was missing nut bolt for gear assembly. I tried Home Depot/Ace hardware for exact match which in a tight space is hard to put, had to zip tie it for time being until I can find a good replacement. Secondly the pedals are old fashioned with spikes, someone with sensitive feet I had to invest another $15 in good solid pedals with 9/16 adapters to fit for me. Thirdly brakes are not that strong with lots of loose nuts but is acceptable for a newly shipped bike so have to work on it for few times until it breaks good. My recommendation buy if you are ok with above otherwise go to your local bike shop who charge way too much, otherwise a good bike for the price.
Could Not Have Been Happier - NYC commuter. I purchased this bike back in March to commute to work 17 miles a day round trip in NYC. In honesty, I bought this as a quick fix to taking the subway during the surge and peak of our Covid outbreak with the expectation that I would purchase a better bike after a few paychecks. However, this bike as surpassed my wildest expectations and has performed wonderfully. Durable and comfortable, I've ridden almost 1000 miles at this point with no degradation issues. Normal maintenance is required of course. The gear shifter is not as precise as advertised, but at the price point, can you really complain? I can't speak to other's experiences, but if I was faced with the same decision again, I would purchase this bike without question.
Budget Bike, Budget Parts. The Radius brand brake calipers are kinda bad. It fails to stop the bike effectively. The seat it came with hurts my butt. There have been complaints about the wheel but the one I got is completely fine. I could easily get some entry level Shimano brakes for the front and rear for $45, and probably get a better seat for another $25, but that would be an extra $70. Might as well invest in a better quality road bike, some Giants go for <= $500, that will last you a longer time and will give you a better ride quality. Same goes with anything you purchase that you plan on using for a while.
Wonderful. My fiancée loves her bike! It arrived fast, and was free of shipping damage. It was relatively easy to assemble once I had the correct tools, and is good quality for such a low price. From a more technical point of view, the bike is a little on the heavy side considering its only medium sized. The dual set of brakes is a hit for my fiancèe who doesn't like to always be reaching for the drop brakes. The shift levers are a bit far back, but considering the brake set-up, it makes sense. For the price, this bike is a great buy, and even though it's not a top of the line road bike, it is more than enough to get you outside and enjoying cycling.
not a performance bike. i have a mountain bike and wanted to bike on the road ,bought this thinking it would give better performance and i can ride faster on the road. It does but very little boost compare to mountain bike. Its a good bike but if you are looking for a performance one this is not. Also, changing gear is not smooth and makes noise and have to constantly adjust the front and back to make the noise go away whenever changing the gear. also wasn't able to go all 21 speed, certain combination of front and back are not possible to do. couple of time chain got dislodged during the uphill chaining gear making it dangerous.Tried to call the vendor but put me on hold for a long time and i gave up.
Took it on a 140km ride to Niagara Falls on the first week I got it and had no complications so far. Very happy.
I've had this bike for about a year now and I must say it is a decent ride for the price. Although It is very heavy and 1 year in, the cheap materials start to show themselves. Can't be bothered to put a dime into servicing it. Brake pads are first to go, then tire tread. Shifting is very rough, some rust starting to form. For $200 you cannot really go wrong though. The forks were mounted backwards out of the box when it arrived but I thought it was funny. I am now upgrading to a real road bike.
Una bicicleta útil para ir de un punto "a" un punto "b". Muy cómoda y estable. Buen agarre de llantas de marca vitesse. Color naranja muy atractivo. Los frenos funcionan bien. La cadena muy resistente. Las velocidades muy bien.

Much better than I expected. I've had this bike for about a year and a half or about 2000 miles, it has far exceeded my expectations. At its price point I guess I expected it to be an uncomfortable mess that falls apart after a few weeks. It's been a solid performer and makes for both a reliable daily driver as well as a solid piece of equipment for both long rides or short sprint workouts. Most of the other reviews mention the same missing screw over and over. I do remember that mine had fallen off in shipping, but I found them in the box under one of the flaps. I wonder how many people who's were missing got thrown out with the box.It took me a little while to get everything adjusted and tightened down, but once I did I never had a problem again. The shifting and drivetrain are dependable, once I got the derailleurs dialed in I never have to worry about the chain slipping or falling off the chainring.I did have to order a stem riser, the handlebars are very low, which was a problem for me when I got it because I wasn't used to being in that riding position, I didn't have a lot of experience on a road bike. Because of its price point I suspect a lot of riders who choose this bike will have the same problem. The customer service so far has been pretty great. About a year into ownership I reached out to the amazon seller about the specs on replacement parts, and they've happily answered quickly every time I do.Its definitely not the lightest or most aero bike on the market, but it doesn't exactly make me yearn for something lighter or sleeker. Mine weighs 28lbs currently, it's easy enough to carry up and down stairs, and I don't feel like its weight is hurting me on climbs.I've been training quite a bit on this bike this summer and I've made massive gains in personal performance, honestly I get a special kind of joy riding this bike blowing past riders on one to two thousand dollar bikes on my local bike trails.Overall I've been very happy with this bike, and would probably recommend it to friends who were looking to get into cycling
For the money, it's good. Bought for the Unity Tour, as I am only riding for that and probably never again. Put it together and took it to a local bike shop to be gone over and set up correctly. My only issue is it seems to need 1 or 2 lower gears, but that could just be my preference. Unsure about durability, but appears well built and saved me a ton of money that I didn't want to spend.*******Update****** Rode the entire police unity tour and the bike performed decent. However, if the ride has any significant hills, get a better bike. It is not meant to climb. Considered switching out the front for a 46/30 and the rear for a 11/36, but decent Shimano GRX or 105 group sets plus the labor would cost as much as the bike.
Not a good experience. The media could not be loaded.  I selected this bike based on all the great reviews, as I wanted a good commuter bike. Not two months later I am coming down a hill at night at a high rate of speed, and the left crank came loose and almost fell off. I took it to a bike shop to discover the square of the crank was stripped at the factory and looked more like a circle. It's frustrating to have problems with a two month old bike with a part that was pre-assembled, and this could have potentially caused a serious injury.I reached out to Hiland customer support and provided my amazon order screenshot with address and purchase date and asked them to send me a new crank. They responded with "Why don't you buy one on amazon and we will refund you the cost?" and provided a link to a generic (non factory matching) crank. I responded with "Why don't you send me one so I am not incurring additional expense and waiting for a refund?" They said, "Sure, this will take two weeks." I didn't wish to wait two weeks, so I bought the 170mm square hole replacement crank. Only when it arrived, it is a bit longer than 170mm, so now I will have to buy an entirely new crank set to ensure the length actually matches. Hiland should have done the right thing and sent a matching factory crank as this was obviously a defective unit on delivery. Further, the gear shifts, even when fully flush with the tightening screw, STILL rotate around the handlebar when you try to change gears - which is also dangerous and in need of modification. The white handlebar wrap - which gets dirty easy and looks bad on a black bike - is already coming undone and looking like a ragged mummy, so this will also need replacing. All said, I will have spent an additional 100+ to get this new bike functional. A highly frustrating experience with Hiland and, hindsight being 20/20, I would have selected a different bike.
Best Service I have ever received, period. The media could not be loaded.  From the moment I chose this bike I told myself regardless of anything good or bad I was going to keep it. Moving in to the moment I opened it, it was love at first sight…It was easy to assemble as it was. I am not a mechanic or a bike expert but if I can do it, anyone can. Finally riding it was graceful. The mechanics of it, the smoothness of it it was and has been all more than I expected. However the best part if this purchase was the service I received from the merchant. I can’t say enough at how helpful and attentive they have been. It has by far and wholeheartedly honesty been the best service I have ever received. Communication was top of the line and understanding goes beyond anything I can describe. I want ti thank the team at Hiland for all the time, effort and help they offered throughout this purchase and assembly. The bike is perfect, I get compliments all the time. No changes needed really, to be honest.Definitely recommend!!!
The bike came on the expected delivery date. The package is not damaged. I ordered red color because the black is not available. It turns out the red is not bright red and I love it. The assembly is very easy. I got it all assembled in half an hour. I only need to adjust the brakes a bit with not much effort. The ride is very smooth and is faster than I expected.
This is a really smooth riding bike. The bike components are really well made, my only suggestion is that you do your due diligence and tighten every nut and bolt. Go over it with a fine tooth comb. I had a mechanical issue and contacted customer service, they were an absolute pleasure to work with. It all got sorted out within a day or two. Would recommend.
aside from a few minor issues the bike is great. The thumb shifters needed spacers between them and the handlebars in order to stop them slipping every time you try to change gear and the white handlebar grips were already looking a bit grubby by the time I finished putting the bike together. Rides well.
When bikes have gone from being a couple of hundred of dollars to thousands of dollars, it's hard to find a bike that allows you to take up long-distance cycling as a hobby (not competitive) at an affordable cost. I couldn't be happier that I came across this one. Not only is it affordable, it's excellent quality. If you know how to use a spanner and some allen keys, you can assemble this yourself. I read some people complain about the instructions being in German (the instructions come in both German and English) or being unclear -- then go to Youtube. You can find many easy videos of people assembling these in 10-15 minutes. Additionally, I will add, that the customer service is excellent and they respond to you immediately if you have any questions. 5 star bike. Don't let the elitist bike snobs tell you that the only way to enjoy a bike is to buy a $3,000 carbon frame Bianchi.
I received the bicycle without the pedals, so it is impossible to use it. I now have to buy separate pedals which is annoying

Kootu Colorado boost. Didn’t bought the bike here on Amazon but bought from same seller “sava direct” as a customer return “used”Bought the bike back in May 16. I had waited till I had the bike to the shop for a safety inspection and to put it together.the tech said is solidFull Shimano Ultegra hydraulic set “only rotors are not shimano”When I first received the bike the box was damage and bike had some scratches no disclosed. But after contacting seller they responded quickly and did right. The bike is perfect and not breaking the bank.Overall I’m happy with purchase. Definitely will consider buying from Sava, Kootu bikes again. After I weigh the bike and ride some more will update!
Good Starter. Fast shipping, good packaging, zero damage. The bike itself is a good quality for the price. I got the bike for my wife who is 52 and its perfect size. Ran 1st 10 miles with it. She loves it.
Great bike for the money. I bought it a few months ago and it rides great and shifts very smoothly. Overall a perfect experience!
